About Us
Harbor Home farm is a mother-daughter goat farm on Vashon Island. We produce milk, yogurt and (mostly) French-inspired cheeses.

Our philosophy is to make the best possible milk—and that is reflected in our cheeses. For example, we only have does on the farm: this keeps the “goaty” taste out of the milk. Our herd of Nubians, Saanens and the cross (called Snubians) is slowly increasing. We have a naming convention for the goats. One year, all the goats were named after flowers, another they were named after trees. This year they are all named after gemstones.

We care about the environment—so all our wastewater goes through an engineered wetland, (which operates courtesy of Mother Nature). We use a peroxide sanitizer, which degrades in the environment in a day or two, unlike chlorine-based sanitizers. And we have metered both water and electricity to help us reduce the use. Eventually, we hope to have solar power to run the operation.

We also have great help from our interns who have housing in our tiny houses in exchange for work on the farm.
